David in touch

David left msg @ DT forum, also posted @ blog forum if u r not registered. Its quite brief & he mentioned the production of a new album *excited* as well as continuation of Love Can concerts which will keep him busy this yr & the next. He kept thanking us & made me feel sad cos he dun hve to thank us all the time, he deserved all the love & adulation we can give him, at least where I am concerned. He only have to stay true to himself & that's enough for me.
So far likely confirmed concert dates r April for HK & Dec for TW. There may be more than 1 concert in TW & definitely in HK. In Oct he will be attending the 2005 Grand Prix from 14-16 in Shanghai. Nice break for David & hopefully he get to drive around the circuit which is designed in the shape of the chinese character for 'above' or 'ascend'. So that leave Nov05, Jan06, Feb06 & Mar06 for the other concerts as I have feeling he will end his concert in HK. I hope to attend the one in Sin if still here & if not, then HK.
Here's nice tribute to his Love Can concert in Shanghai. The 2005 Super Girl contest ended 8/27, & Bibi did not get 1st but was pretty close 3.52 to 3.27 mil votes, the 3rd only 1.35 mil so really a 2 horse race. Anyway hope she get a record contract maybe from EMI heehee DT is now officially recognised as acronym for David Tao haha the internet really a strange strange place ^__^

agnes b & Shanghai Grand Prix

David is back in Taiwan! He attended launch of agnes b store with Vivian Hsu & Chang Cheh. Anyway very trivial abt how they tried to upstage each other, David was late & they had to delay the fashion show but then David is always late, he has prob with time management heehee
He incredibly sweet here, vry charming. I do agree that his casual outfit in Soul Power suited him the best. David dun look his best in grand glittering outfits, its not his style but sumtimes its good to try new things. Just cos sumthing dun suit u dun mean u dun try it rite. I used to have this navy blue agnes b jacket that I wore all the time. I got tired of it eventually & switched to black leather jacket. Anyway I lost the leather jacket & went back to wearing agnes b & realised I wasn't a black leather person so u dun really know what good for u till u try.
David will be performing @ the 2005 Shanghai Golden Grand Prix, not sure the date. Wonder if he will drive a racing car & wear those tightfitting overalls ^__^

David Tao Travelling

David with 2 of his fellow EMI artists, Anson Hu & sry dun know how to translate the other guy's name but he held a concert in Beijing at the same time as David in Shanghai. Here's a nice review of both their concerts. There was another review where much was made of the fact that the other artist, a veteran singer, used only 1 guitar in his concert while David used 4 *sigh* All I wanna say is there are many types of guitars - bass, electric, acoustic, classical, steel-stringed, nylon-stringed, 4 stringed, 6 stringed, 8 stringed, etc - & they have diff sound & served diff purpose in music.
Other trivial news is there is a brandnew concert venue in Taiwan & apparently there is like a competition to see who is the first performer. David was said to be the first & then it was announced Jacky Cheung will be the first with his musical, Snow Wolf Lake. Now it seemed A-Mei will be first cos she will be promoting for them but before the actual opening *roll eyes* seemed to be like cheap advertising for the venue. So long as David will be staging more concerts it dun matter where the venue, even if he is performing on a small mat on top of the Statue of Liberty, he will still sound great ^__^
Good to see some more online writeups in english below:
Tour of love
Taiwan singer David Tao Zhe, who is on a performing tour around the world, arrives in Beijing next month. Tao Zhe was born into a highly musical family. His father is an expert in Western pop music while his mother is from a family famous for playing Beijing Opera. This probably explains why Tao Zhe's music is a mixture of Western and Chinese styles. Tao Zhe approaches pop music from a unique angle, which separates him from common pop singers. Having just completed his new album Times of Peace and Prosperity - which he says is aimed at making fun of the present pop climate - he is now concentrating on an extended tour. With the song Forever Love You as the theme of the concert, Tao Zhe aims to share his love and ideas for life and music directly with his fans.
Tickets: 180-1,280 yuan (US$22-158)
Time/date: 7:30 pm, September 10
Location: Capital Gymnasium, Baishiqiaolu

Love Me or Him

Tao Zhe, David, Taiwan's godfather of music finally realized his dream to hold a big-scale ticket-selling concert in the Chinese Mainland... Tao Zhe, David, Taiwan's godfather of music finally realized his dream to hold a big-scale ticket-selling concert in the Chinese Mainland. It was held last Saturday in Shanghai. The stage arranged like a rain forest looked very glamorous. And it cost 1.8 million yuan, breaking the record of 1.2 million yuan set by competing pop icon Jay Chou. Besides the glamorous stage and costumes for the visual enjoyment, music is still the focus of David as his high-quality music is still the biggest attraction. Now, for fans who didn't have a chance to see him live, here is his latest hit "Love Me or Him".
Here's a sweet bit abt David's behavior on a plane, actually the original chinese version had been online a couple of times but rather nice to see it in english, basically it described some celebrities' behavior on a plane. Not vouching for its authenticity but since its extremely flattering to David, I would say David's piece is true unless its written by an extreme fan haha only extracted David's but go here if u wanna read abt the rest, quite fun, have to scroll abt 1/3 down.
Tao Zhe: He was going to Los Angeles. When the workers had to deal with him, he always kept saying "Thank you" and "Sorry to trouble you". For a popular artist to be so polite must mean that he had good upbringing. As we were about to land, I was doing the safety check. A little old lady in the first row had opened up the overhead compartment, took out a large suitbase and placed it in front of her feet. I explained to her that this was an emergency exit pathway and no luggage must be placed there. She said, "The suitcase is heavy. I don't want to take it back up again." I explained again that this may affect an emergency escape. She said, "In that case, you can put it back up." So I sighed and I lifted the suitcase up to my chest. But I could not lift it any further up. It was so heavy! Did she put marble stones in there? The old lady looked at me as if saying, "You asked for it!" But someone in the fourth and last row unhooked his seatbelt and got up to lift the suitcase with me. Yes! It was Tao Zhe! When I spoke to other workers about this, I found out that he was always friendly and polite. He was the most unforgettable star in my eight years of flying ...
Here's the latest interview with him & it broke my heart to read it. He put so much hard work & ideas into the Love Can Concert & still fans are not satisfied. They criticised his outfits, the commercialism, the dancing, the exposed chest & worst, compared it to Soul Power. Its The Great Leap 2005 all over again. But I guess, David, there are just some fans that would never grow & develop with you. They kept looking for the Black Tangerine David or the Soul Power David. Because in chinese entertainment, music that are popular are those that give the audience what they want repeatedly and not those that open their minds to accept new things. Its like what I said on a previous post abt Jewel in the palace, David will never give us the same things twice. But he will try to present new things in such a way that its easier to accept but if you go looking for his old shadow, it will not be there. Soul Power Concert is history, its no point for David to do the same thing.
In the Shanghai Love Can Concert David concentrate most was the sound. It was unusual but not just the singers but all the band mbrs wore earpiece in order to concentrate on the music. It was a lot of effort to get used to playing with earpiece but David wanted to do it cos it would bring a sharper sound to the audience. Later some media told him that it was the best sounding concert they been to & David was happy. I hope some of his fans also noticed the great sound. When asked abt his director ambitions, David said he has already put a lot of his movie dreams into his music & esp in his Love Can concert. This concert, he said, is like watching a musical where there is a theme & continuity of this theme with him as the director. He hoped that the audience would understand the meaning of the theme after watching & be moved by it.
I have been thinking abt this for a while, reason why I may have understood the concert more than the ppl who attended & maybe the reason is I probably attended more western live theater than most DT fans. I dun know abt chinese plays but I am sure in Beijing opera, the colors & esp face paintings actually tell you a lot abt the character. But if you ever go to western performance plays, you will understand how costumes can convey the personalities, moods & situation of the characters. Or have you seen WKW's In the mood for love where Maggie Cheung wear a series of gorgeous cheongsums? If you observed carefully you found the colors & styles of the cheongsums followed her change of moods & situation in the movie.
So I think the red outfit is not just to show off his chest. The 4 outfits tied in with the theme & songlist of the concert. They are not chosen just to be showy & decorative. They go with the songs & meanings David want to convey in his concert. Did you realised David ended the segment of his passionate red outfit with a song abt loneliness? You may ask how I can be so sure abt all this when I have not even seen the concert. Well, maybe I am wrong but as fans of David, do you think he will arbitarily wear such a flamboyant, chest-exposing outfit on stage without thinking abt the result? Obviously he knew that quite a few of his fans will react against it like he knew many fans will find it hard to accept The Great Leap.
David has put in a lot of hard work to come as far as he has now and even he himself never knew that he would be so successful especially in China. He promised his mainland fans that his concert tickets will not be too expensive, he also wanted to give them the best sound which meant the best sound equipment & making his band mbrs wear earpieces. He has made good both his promise. Maybe as a result of these efforts he will lose fans who want him to stay the same as always but as David said, he cannot stand still just because his fans refused to grow with him. He has to walk his own musical path and follow his own dream. His journey in music must carry on irregardless.

Happiness is David

I am such a happy happy happy girl haha as just watch short concert clip posted @ davidcn & it was so gooooooooooooooooooooooood. Basically not sure why ppl r concerned abt THAT RED OUTFIT as it dun matter cos I felt David sang so well & his arrangement of the songs are terrific, fast smooth tempo, Shanghaied sounded so great esp the little rap at the end then he went back to r&b so smoothly it was just mindblowing. The band & backup singers were marvellous. Imagine 3 hrs of this music & my happiness will last for 3 yrs easily.
Mark has kindly given permission to repost his review @ blog forum so those not registered @ DT forum plse have a read as its excellent & just confirmed that David has not forgotten how to give great music. Thanx nlayhua & reb for letting us know abt Listen concert being postponed. More details @ their website Normally dun link to personal blog but chance abt this one that has an entry abt flying on the same plane with David from Sin to Taiwan on 8/6! She sounded nice & anyway blogs r meant to be read rite? Think David wore his cap on purpose so noone will approach him not cos he wanted to be recognised. Anyway more confirmation that David is nice & handsome in person.
Tom writeup on Bibi the China Supergirl who likes to sing David's songs in the contest. Scroll down to read David's comments & well wishes for her as well as Leo Ku's. She is really a nice girl, vry tiny, & appeared in a program with David where she sang Blue Moon & also sang a bit of Song for Anita with him. She is a good, sincere singer so good luck to her.
Its strange but guess its love that putting the glow on his face & stars in his eyes, but he is looking so gorgeous now that even tho I still want him to get married but yet also want him to stay single so we can have him all to ourselves all the time heehee Kinda selfish I guess but he should not have wore THAT RED OUTFIT to tease us ^__^

Are you ready to rock Beijing?

Sweet pix of David & local boy David Tan I believe, pix credit davidcn. He always has such great chemisty with his band mbrs. Below nice english writeup online:

David Tao Comments on His Tour
2005-08-20 12:09:30 CRIENGLISH.com
The Taiwan godfather of music Tao Zhe or David Tao finally realized his dream of holding a huge sellout concert on the Chinese Mainland after 8 years in the biz. The first stop was his hometown Shanghai, and now he’s continuing his tour to Beijing. Will he prepare something special for his Beijing fans?
Taiwan R&B singer and songwriter David Tao kicked off his concert tour in Shanghai's Hongkou Stadium last Saturday.
The stadium which can hold over 30 thousand people was almost full. And David didn't disappoint his fans. From his first song "Find Myself", the audience went crazy.
At the celebration banquet after the concert, David couldn't hide his excitement and he even revealed to the media that one song in the repertoire, "Tiantian" is dedicated to a girl who is very important to him.
"She is my intimate friend. She couldn't come to my concert today. So I sang the song, 'Tiantian' for her as she is special to me."
It's a pity his friend failed to turn up to his first concert, as for David's fans, the concert was absolutely flawless.
Shanghai was the first stop of David Tao's world tour which continues in the capital on September 10th. David promises to rock Beijing.
"I know that the Beijing audience has an ear for rock music. So I will sing more rock tunes in Beijing's concert. A different Tao Zhe will appear on the stage."
He'll also sing some excerpts of Peking Opera to please fans in Beijing.
(Non concert related)
No matter what the critics say, it's harvesting time for David Tao who composes and sings songs that always show his talent and passion.

Unfortunately the audio link must have expired & so cannot listen to David speaking. Something I like to see is David playing the drums on stage. If he strip off his shirt to play the drums, even better heehee I really dun mind David being sexy on stage so long as its not sleazy. After all he is not doing it to hide the fact that he cannot really sing well or the concert has not much to offer but his bare torso. Whatever he wants to do on stage so long as its done with good taste & enhanced his music, I am quite prepared to accept with open mind. As missred mentioned in her excellent msg, 'the day u are more concerned abt whether his stage sets are too showy rather than the meaning behind his music his purpose in this music industry then perhaps its time to move on.'
Nice pix of David with his parents.

Joy to the people

David was guest @ Ynet for online chat. He answered a lot of questions & they were great questions. Too long for me to translate but just a few things that he said that is relevant to english speaking fans. At the moment he is not considering releasing english album altho english is familiar to him. Since chinese is his mother tongue, he hope to make the best chinese music for the people who like his music in Asia. So at the moment he is not considering english album or even promoting his music in more countries.
This is why he is my idol, I just love him for remaining so strong & sincere in his objective in life. He did said while he is chasing this objective, it can be difficult and although sometimes he wants to give up, he has never given up. I respect his choice and although I really want to hear him sing in english but if he feels that doing an english album serve no purpose for him then I will accept it too.
He also said that they would probably release concert dvd but it will take at least another 4 to 5 months. As for album of singing songs he wrote for others, he said that its under consideration although some fans have told him they rather listen to more of his original works than old stuff *pout* but I wanna hear him sing Wind and sand, Thinking of my love, Kingston Man, and so many others. Its not fair, I can accept no english album but at least give us this. I mean its not that difficult to go into the studio and record 10 songs you have already wrote rite? *sigh* Why must my idol be one of the slowest producing musician on earth? heehee
He also said that he will sing Butterfly in Beijing & that the reason he called the song Butterfly is cos when people are down & depressed they become like caterpillars but when they are happy and in high spirits they become like butterflies but caterpillar & butterfly are the same thing. He said that not a lot of people understand the meaning he intended in The Art of War. Most people said the song is against war which is partly true lyrics wise. But apart from destruction of war & damage to the environment, he was also concerned that people especially chinese people are not very united. That why he used so many chinese instruments in the song.
Now I understand & the song is even more meaningful to me *thank you David* Yeah one of the longest, nicest online chat he had so far in China & no comparision at last. Think people are starting to get the idea that its no point asking him for he will not get angry or upset, he will just repeat the same thing, there is no comparision. Although I do wish they stop calling him 'r&b teacher', make him sound so ancient & grouchy. He is not r&b anything, he is just David Tao who makes music from the heart.
Also plse dun judge Love Can concert solely on the pixs of David in his 4 glittering outfits. I read moving accounts from fans who waited so long for his concert & they were not disappointed. Most of them cried esp during the singalong for I love you. Most of them felt the love that David is giving them & heard the msg of love that David wanted to convey to them. David said that he wanted his audience to leave their worries behind & for 2 & 3 hours be filled with joy, happiness & love, then go home & resume their lives. This may sound simple but actually its not that easy esp in today's stressful world to even have 1 hr of pure happiness. So this is David's gift to us when we attend his concert. Together with the thousands who enjoy his music, we will all be joyous & filled with love for a couple of hrs, we forget all our worries & immersed ourselves in his music which has the strength to nourish our souls. I think this is such a splendid idea for a concert to give to your audience the most precious gift of all - happiness.

The show must go on

Unplugged section where another David is given chance to shine. Its not all abt naked chest & glittering outfits, David & his band did sing & play their hearts out. Apparently David forgot a lot of lyrics so he is not totally confident either. Guess sum ppl not comfortable with this more showbusiness David but remember he has to satisfy everybody - his fans, his record co, his managers, his band, his sponsors, the audience. I still think he did vry well.
The concert more showy but not that showy & its still abt the music. The tango actually vry small part of the concert & he only showed his chest 1/4 of the time. Mostly he played his guitar & sang & sang. David is 36 but still vry fit so now is the time for him to show off his bod before he get married & have kids.
Can watch Sohu online interview & footage of concert. Fans told him they thought this concert was diff to Soul Power but just as good so he is satisfied. He also said what he wanted most is to bring to his fans the best music so guess you just have to believe in David.
Here transcript of another interview where he said he might sing Lou Dayou songs in Beijing.
Here can watch short clip where he talked abt one of the China Supergirls (kinda American Idol) who likes to sing his songs, love his goofy grin ^__^ courtesy davidcn

Some comic relief @ 8 days where they compared him to Twins & revealed they are actually avid readers of his forum diary heehee
David Tao vs Twins
This weekend, two pop music powerhouses drop into Shanghai for much-anticipated shows. In one corner, we have Twins, cutesy Hong Kong gals Charlene and Gillian, who would look at home wearing matching pairs of Mickey Mouse ears and licking pastel lollipops. In the other corner is David Tao, sensitive, brooding Taiwanese star, with a bit more credibility on the musical side. We’ve decided to pit these two pop constructs against each other in a battle of the wits (and words), so that you get the most out of your sugar-coated concerts.
Sensitivity – What’s a love song without heartbreak, or a cell phone without Hello Kitty stickers? Here Tao clearly comes out on top – you can almost feel his dewy eyes staring into yours as he brushes the tears from your cheeks.
The Tao of Kittens: David muses on selfless acts of feline preservation. “We both agreed that if we heard the little kitten crying again the next day we would bring it back home.” Talk about a man in touch with his fan base.
Charlene Twin on relationships. “If somebody goes for me that’s not love, and I’m so busy that nothing could happen anyways.” Ouch.
Appreciating the Fans – Recently, Sir Elton John called the Taiwanese ‘savages’ and refused to play a show in Taipei. How do these divas stack up to every florist’s favourite customer? Tao again takes the cake for his kindhearted devotion, or heartfelt excuses.
The Tao of Autographs – “I’m deeply regretful that I couldn’t personally meet every one of you that day in Hangzhou to autograph your CDs. I left feeling quite down and sad that night and I’m sure many of you were very depressed and frustrated as well.” Aw, shucks, he’s a sweetie.
Gillian Twin on splitting up – “Many of our fans think we will split up soon, but we’ve been together four years and time is the best evidence. Maybe when both of us are 30 or we are too old to walk around, we will split up.” Sorry, fans, but 30 isn’t as far away as you might think. They’re actually about 23, not 15.
Appearance – C’mon kids, you don’t listen to this stuff for the music. This is pop, after all, and people didn’t fall in love with Britney for her wealth of talent, did they? The Twins come out on top, for obvious reasons, by a large margin here.
The Tao of hair – “The sun has been out for most of this week in Taipei so it’s hot as heck. The heat is sticky and makes my hair frizzy and difficult to manage which drives me crazy.” You ain’t seen nothing yet, pretty boy.
The Twins on not actually being real twins – “We resemble each other, just like twins...that’s why we’re called ‘Twins’. But we have totally different characters.” Sure you do... now sit on her lap.
And now, a few closing words from our winner, the lovely David: “I will keep all of you in my prayers and hope that all of you are safe and lucid in all you do and strive for. Love one another and be patient, humble and forgiving to those around you. God Bless, DT.” And God help us all.
Twins 2005. 7.30pm, Friday August 12, Shanghai Grand Stage David Tao. 7.30pm, Saturday August 13, Hongkou Soccer Stadium
Talking abt his diary, hope he can leave a msg soon during his break cos miss his writing vry much. Some pixs courtesy davidcn as credited

The Man in Beijing

David interviewed @ China station. He looks so fresh & glowing, vry yummy *lucky Joanna* heehee Apparently Selena of SHE also holding concert in Beijing again claimed David as her idol & when asked if she is jealous that David publicly acknowledged his loved one, she sweetly replied that she is happy her idol is so romantic haha also when SHE was recording msg for David, Selena was the only 1 who gave flying kiss.
I know how you feel Selena *__^ It is just me or is David becoming more & more scrumptious? Below online news regarding David & She concerts in Beijing, only extracted David's news:
SHE & David to Hold Beijing Concerts
As for David Tao, he performed in Shanghai earlier in August, dancing the Tango. The excellent show in Shanghai has fans expecting a more successful one in Beijing. The star and EMI record company broke the ice sculpture of the figure 10,000, hoping concert attendance will surpass this number. David also told to media that he would buy house in Beijing after the concert.
Lucky Beijing fans, yr idol will be so much closer. Btw just wanna point out sumthing abt concert attendance. Basically concert attendance has been falling worldwide & last yr quite a few US artists had to cancel their concerts cos of poor sales, also they were vry greedy & overpriced their tickets. Last yr top 20 concerts in US here, as usual older, more established stars such as Phil Collins & Sting head the list, even Bette Midler did better than Usher. Also results based on average sales per city not attendance, so the free seats dun count. Even so by using simple maths, can figure out the average attendance of Phil Collins who headed the list - 14,158 per city.
So if as claimed, a certain Shanghai concert managed an attendance of 80,000, dun you think there will be worldwide headlines & all the US artists will be on the next plane to Shanghai? Cos they only have to charge USD10 per ticket to make at least USD800,000 in one night! So think one should not take extravagant claims for concert attendance in China seriously. Usually they just take the capacity of the stadium as attendance not the sales. So let say they released 10,000 tickets & sold all, they would claimed full capacity & viola the ridiculous figure of 80,000.
David's concert had 95% sales & around 22,000 tickets were sold so he probably released around 24,000 tickets in a 40,000 capacity stadium. Compared to Phil Collins's 14,158 & can understand why David grinned happily when he said he was satisfied with ticket sales in Shanghai. Cos there is at present so many concerts scheduled in Beijing, David is realistically hoping for a more modest figure - over 10,000. Really hope he can get at least 20,000. Anyway sry to get all analytical here but just hate ppl to put down David's 22,000 attendance as unsuccessful cos they believed sum stupid hype. As reward heehee for reading this serious stuff I will post link to watch abt 10 mins of Shanghai concert, info credit davidcn.
Even from such a short clip, can see its totally diff from Soul Power. As Mark said, there's more theatrical feel to this concert. New arrangement of the songs vry subtle, familiar yet diff. What can I say but THIS MAN IS SO INCREDIBLY TALENTED! Totally smitten once again haha 1 vry diligent davidcn mbr noted that he changed 'cola' in Airport in 10.30 to Sprite, naughty David heehee BUT then I noticed that it was the 1st time Coke rep actually attended his media event in Beijing cos normally only Sprite rep or they called themselves Sprite rep, except this time it was COCA COLA & Sprite rep. Maybe they wanna hint to David not to change it again. Always wonder why they dun used that song for cm, it will make perfect classic coke cm, u know, guy waiting in airport anxiously drinking coke & when he was abt to give up & leave sumone handed him a coke & it was the girl then they walked off hand-in-hand with 'baby baby baby' still playing (^___^)
Also admin put up short clip @ davidtao.com of rehearsal & concert footage. Can dl from Yahoo briefcase if u dun understand chinese & cannot register to view the clip. Finally if you gonna attend his concert in any of the cities, advise you save & get the best seats cos if not, you will be full of regrets & kicking yourself like sum fans who attended the Shanghai concert. This is one concert where you wanna get upclose & personal. Some pixs courtesy davidcn as credited

Beijing media event

Media event for David's Beijing concert on Sep 10. After success of Shanghai concert with 95% tickets sold, expectation is high for Beijing concert. Watched news of Shanghai concert & apart from his parents & mbrs of Tension, think I saw Craig Burbridge who did most of the mixing on his albums. During Beijing event, fans wanted to know what's new for next concert & David said he may incorporated diff roles in Beijing opera. More pixs of Beijing event here, here, here & can watch part of event here but vry slow.
Btw Mark did excellent review of Shanghai concert in DT forum & was reading in Sohu where foreign fan reported to be extremely high during concert, was that you Mark or maybe Craig heehee Also lotsa concert pixs up @ davidtao.com They only played Rain during concert news but it sounded rather diff from Soul Power, slower in tempo but still extremely good. The Sohu writeup also said that most songs had new arrangements & the reviewer most astonished many in the audience knew how to sing all his songs from past to present hits including banned ones like Ghost & Bastard.
Quite an accomplishent for David holding his 1st concert in China 8 yrs after his first album release considering he wasn't even vry well known then. Was quite moved reading posts from fans who waited for so long & felt it was well worth the wait. One mentioned a middle aged man besides her who knew all the words to his songs, she felt so awed & hope that she will be just as enthusiastic when she is his age. Well 3 weeks to go till Beijing ^__^

PHWOAR!

Another look at the chest heehee so yummy so man so David ^__* not many ppl can wear red floral & still look PHWOAR! I think David has notched up several phwoar degrees after this concert cos even tho I love him alot I nvr really think of him in terms of animal magnetism but this concert changes all that. He is HOT HOT HOT now I sound like a fangirl haha
The phwoar factor goes up again here, sweat, guitar, muscles & David is a deadly combination. All these pixs taken by davidcn mbrs really great, they must have excellent seats & view.
He looked so vry western rockish here, love this outfit the most. The black embroidered vest just rite for singing Ghost, Black Tangerine, The Art of War as well as dancing tango. Gold cuffs another nice touch. Some ppl said that David selling out to commercialism in this concert. Again ppl must be realistic, David dun just answer to himself but his bosses include EMI & Sprite. David is their biggest star & his concert must reflect this. Actually I felt so proud of David cos I felt he managed to combine commercialism & music very successfully in this concert.
The 4 outfits more tasteful than I have hope for so credit to the stylist. They have the right amount of oomph & David wear them so well which is a big diff as most concert costumes seem to use the singer as model. The most flamboyant is the red but even the red floral jacket was not too elaborate. The crucifix hanging on his bare chest just fine so the stylist even got the accessories just rite. Also dun forget red was meant to represent passion in all human feelings & the outfit really reflect that. There's safari feel in the white outfit as he had just ejected from the helicopter into the rainforest, white also represent new environment.
Here he got the audience to sing Wang Ba Dan to get around ban of not singing swear word. This is the last outfit & represent resolution & going back to find oneself naturally so the color of earth & jeans. Love the thin blue scarf round his neck. So you see a lot of thought went into the outfits & u find that the songlist go with the outfits too. He really meant it when he said the concert is full of surprises ^__^
All pixs credit & thanks to davidcn

2005 Shanghai Love Can Concert

More pixs! This is actually the expensive Swarovski crystal outfit. Here he pretend to strip but kept his top on. The stage had this real helicopter but he didn't ride in it. Most of the songs had new arrangement & for Tuberose he sang in a falsetto & even laid on top of the piano like a nightclub singer hahaha love to see that.
The atmosphere was vry high & needlessly to say everybody was raving abt his singing. Faultless as always & sounding like the cd, so those who kept saying his voice studio enhanced can just go & eat their words.
Here's the program courtesy davidcn & as expected sponsored by Sprite. So some rest for our David & next up will be Beijing. David said that since its his mom's hometown, he is planning even more surprises. Think he might sing Butterfly this time as lotsa fans request for it.
He danced the tango with both his backup singers & he actually trained with a HK dance instructor. 1 of the backup singers called Lisa apparently quite well-known in Shanghai. Not sure which one but can see they chosen for their vocals & not looks, not saying they r not attractive but they r not
yr usual model/dancer type.
Here's all sweaty & having a drink break. SUDDENLY ITS HOT IN HERE heehee
I like this pix cos loving the outfit, his bod, expression & if u look down, can see bunch of flowers, hope he got it ^__^ Guess they will chose between Shanghai or Beijing for the concert dvd but really hope they released both.
Not sure to post this but sure its just the angle cos David looked like doing an MJ heehee Above 3 pixs courtesy davidcn
