Double-star play
Get set for a great time as singing sensations David Tao and Eason Chan are set to perform here in May and August respectively. By Peter Yap
Following his highly-successful world concert tour in 2003, Taiwan's top R&B artiste David Tao is currently on his Love Can world tour which started in Shanghai last July. He will perform next in Hongkong from April 14 to 16.
Love Can is one of Tao's latest hits and is a simple warm tune unlike the complex arrangements in many of his songs. His different approach to pop music sets him apart from other pop singers.
Born into a musical family - his father is an expert in Western pop music and his mother comes from a family famous for its performances in Beijing Opera - it's no wonder that Tao's music is a mixture of Western and Chinese styles.
Raised in Los Angeles, he has released four albums in his eight-year career, including The Great Leap 2005. Already, his talent has led the Taiwan media to dub him the "godfather of R&B". He is working on his next album, expected to be ready in the first half of next year.
The 36-year-old will be performing at the Bukit Jalil National Outdoor Stadium at 7pm on May 7. Fans can expect to hear him deliver more than 20 of his hits including Ghost, Susan Said, Who Do You Love? and Butterfly.
According to concert organiser Galaxy Production, the singer will be in town from April 21 to 24 to promote his upcoming concert.
