3 nights to Beijing

Love him when he wear Adidas top. He must have heaps. Another writeup abt his arrival in Beijing as apparently there were other celebrities arriving as well like Jackie Cheung & Anthony Wong so the airport rather crowded. Then the writer had to put in that as there were only ten or so mbrs of his unofficial fanclub in China, DTFC, waiting for him with banners it was pathetic compared to the screaming teenagers who greeted Rain *roll eyes* Must be the same writer who wrote that Rain's concerts in Japan were not sold out & his album released in Japan failed to reach the chart, both untrue of cos. I am not paranoid but noticed there are sum really silly, rather 'creative' Chinese writers who always tried to put down ppl they feel dun have the rite to be popular.
Still rather ridiculous to compare a well respected singer/composer to a Korean heartthrob, not that I am dissing Rain cos I like him but he is popular for reasons that are entirely diff from David. Apparently Rain will be featured in Time Asia like other past Asian idols at the height of their fame. All these features always predict great things including crossover to the West but it all come to nought. Maybe Rain will break the drought & actually make it in US with his collaboration with Lil Kim who is making a comeback & I really do wish him well. But somehow dun think a Beijing radio station will devote a whole day to him like they did to David.
Actually am surprised myself cos the djs were vry earnest abt it & there is really a high level of respect for David amongst the ppl who really enjoy his music. They included 3 of the most popular Mainland actresses - Vicki Zhao, Zhao Xun & Rene Liu. Also Lou Dayou & many other Chinese producers & songwriters. Not sure how popular FM97.4 is in Beijing but still an extremely high profile promo for David's concert. Only caught a bit of last part where he talked abt his new album. He said it will be less 'heavy' & the feeling more like his first album *gasp* here I was saying he will nvr go back to his old self heehee But I think he is talking abt the feeling not the music. Still it would be nice if David can do another album similar to Taoism, pure exuburant music, but it will still be diff for sure knowing David. Really looking forward to it as well as live concert dvd, so many good things to come next yr.
Since I seemed to be talking to myself nowadays which actually rather enjoy (^__^) shall talk abt my pet hate which is hype, hype & nothing but hype. Cos to read the chinese media abt Venice Film Festival, seems like the 2 big chinese movies worth talking abt r Seven Swords & Initial D. Hullo these movies r not even in competition. OK Seven Swords was the opener but just consolation for not being in the competition.
Only chinese movie in competition is Stanley Wong's Everlasting Regret starring Sammi Cheng. I guess maybe its more an indie film without the big budget of Seven & Initial, so there's less hype abt it. But hype even extreme big hype will not get you into competition & it will not get your performance featured online mtv cos its so embarrassingly lacklustre. While you are there have a listen to Siti Nurhaliza, all talent & vry little hype.
