Back to normal
Sorry for the outburst & thank you for being so understanding. I just don't understand why some ppl cannot separate my opinions from my being a fan of David. Do they think I want to bring down other singers just for David? Why would I want to do that? If someone has written a great song & come up with a great album, I would be delighted for chinese music. Currently I am stuck on cable channel called Animax & just amazed at the quality & variety of music written for anime series. Just made me sad when I listen to the chinese music coming out now. Actually I don't even dare to raise any high hopes for DT's new album. For sure I will like the music cos I know he would do his best but would it be a defining album for chinese music? Reading his responses to interviews, I don't think so cos he is still saying the same things & having the same thoughts. I feel he lacks the fire & drive now to write the kind of inspiring music he has done in the past. But I am ok with it as I think he doesn't want that kind of expectations on his shoulders. So someone else has to do it & at present, in my opinion anyway, there is still yet no successor in sight.

Leave me alone
No, I feel strongly that escapism is NOT the way to solve problems which is what China is trying to do now. Sweep everything under the carpet & send men out to space to create diversion. Anything to avoid facing the problems & trying to solve them. There is still no answer to what or if any measures are being put in place to avoid the same thing happening. Actually the previous post was more my anger abt this. Anything abt not protecting innocent infants always get me. It must always be the responsibility of our society to protect babies because they are totally innnocent & defenceless.
It's just that Jay happens to come along with his silly song masquerading as serious social msg. This will always be my opinion & I am sorry but I cannot change it. People need to understand that you cannot force others to accept what you think is right. I don't go around to other blogs or forums to try & change others' opinions so plse if you visit my blog, don't try to change mine. I am not hating on Jay cos I am a David fan. If you read my blog, u know that I am just as hard on David. Besides don't worry, I am only a miniscule minority. The majority will praise Jay, his new song & his new album. He will receive many awards & get many accolades so plse leave me & my blog alone. I need to be free to write what I feel. If u dun like it, simply do not visit. My opinions are not that important.

Bits & pieces

Maybe its the Confucian values he received in his education. Kowtow to yr elders even when they are corrupted for they know better. Could be why his songs are so useful as propaganda in schools in China. When your babies are dying from contaminated milk & corrupted politicans lined their own pockets, just listen to your mother & remember those blissful childhood days *__* A bit harsh I know but Jay needs to get down from his glass tower & out of his comfort zone if he really wants to educate the masses.
And I haven't even got to the music hehe anyway he or his arranger did some tiny sampling from Soulja Boy's monster hit Crank Dat. The beat is slowed down considerably but similar ringing sound & infectious oh in the background to give a childlike feel. While Crank Dat featured the distinctive sound of the steel drum, Jay threw in the cajone, a boxlike drum but I really can't hear it in the song if it was not mentioned that it appeared in the mv. I feel that the song would have worked better with a faster beat & more of the drum sound for a bit of reggae but then it would sound more like Crank Dat & u know Jay is terrified of being called a 'copycat':P

DT random news
It's official - David is back in US ^__^ He has 'given birth' to his new album & it could be as early as Oct release. His film script is almost complete & he is still targeting for end of 2009 release. Anyway definitely there will be more news of him next month with his 2 scheduled concerts in Tianjin & Jakarta & maybe album release.
It has been a rather subdued year so far in terms of Chinese music maybe cos of the Olympics. No album or even song stood out much. There were a few debuts but there is a feeling that after the hype, more chinese listeners are looking for something other than run-of-the-mill music. Even though singers are trying other musical styles than r&b & hiphop like jazz, soul & pop rock, they seem more like trying to be different than using the music to express their feelings & thoughts. There's the obligatory songs using chinese instruments or incorporating chinese opera which is still popular and guaranteed to get some good comments. But the freshness is gone and besides if the only thing that stands out in a song is the mixing in of the sound of a chinese intstrument or opera stanza than its just lack of creativity. Anyway hope that DT will get through all the pitfalls & come up with a meaningful album.
