A simple, bright, romantic album

Seemed David was no show @ Guangzhou concert, hope he is not sick or anything. Anyway for once I have no new DT pix to post ;( Only good thing is taozeehk has more interview transcripts by Annie where David talked mostly abt his new album. He has written 7/8 songs & he wanted to write another 5/6 more before selecting, arranging & recording. He wrote a few in Taiwan & some in US. A bit confusing as when the interviewer asked him if he will release EP he answered no no no but later the interviewer asked him to describe his favorite mood now so that when he released his single, fans would know what to expect. So not sure if he will release single or not prior to album.
David said its hard to describe as now he may say he like certain thing like fav type of girl but when he get married it may not to this type of girl, so he is unable to describe what his album will be like. He is thinking of doing a simple album with no complications but it get more & more complex as he put in too many ideas. The interviewer then said like a cake with too much white cream, & David said too many cherries ^__^
So David explained you must know when to stop, when to know when its right. He felt he wanted an album with a bit more sunshine as the previous 2 were dark cos of certain circumstances. But now he felt more open - "oh yeah I am so happy." The interviewer asked if it's midage crisis. David said just that he felt different from a few yrs ago & it will reflect in his album which will be more fun & relaxed although it will not be without meaning but it will be bright.
He said he has written a few songs which he liked & the album will also be more romantic. Anyway they went on to describe what is romantic & David said the art of living is kinda romantic where you need to enjoy the little things. It's not just abt a five carat diamond ring. Basically he felt romantic is about the little things in life & this will be reflected in his album.
Anyway still dun know what to expect from his new album but since I am not into fireworks, a simple, romantic album with sunshine should suit me fine. All I really want is another English song from him.
Congratulations to Lee Ang for being the first asian to receive an Academy Award for Best Director! So happy for him. It was interesting cos I happened to flip to a channel where he was being interviewed & he was so humble, charming & nice. It was really wonderful to hear him & be reminded of David cos both of them always answered their questions honestly, thoughtfully & thoroughly.
When asked if he will make another Chinese movie, he said it was very difficult & problematic to make a movie here (was reminded of David's problems staging his concerts). He said it required the efforts of making 2 or 3 western movies to make CTHD. Also at the moment he can't find any interesting script here whereas in the west, he has so many scripts to read that he is bound to find one that caught his interest.
When asked if there is any Asian actor he wanted to work with, he was more diplomatic. He said that the east really do not trained the actors very well & most of them don't just concentrate on acting. He find it easier to work with newcomers than with established actors. Of cos Zhang Ziyi came up & he said that he told her to start learning English not because he felt she should go to Hollywood. But knowing that she has the opportunity to perform on the world stage, he wanted her to be able to find out what happening in the world. With chinese, she would only know 50% or less of world affairs & that would affect her growth as an actor.
Asked to give advice to budding Asian directors, he didn't really give any just that he felt that Chinese culture is very important & it should always continue. He said it was his family practice when they have their reunion dinner to never finish their bowl of rice but leave a mouthful. This is to symbolise always leaving behind something for their descendants. Such a nice thought dun you think?
But the most important thing Lee Ang said was that he has never make movies just for winning awards. Also to make meaningful movies, it must come from your sincerity within. Which is what David always try to do when he make his albums.
