The perfect interview
David & his disciples heehee. Not sure if he managed to visit the Shaolin Monastery but he did meet sum young Shaolin disciples & they performed wushu while he sang The Art of War wow really wanna see that.
Managed to listen to the ufm1003 interview & it was great, vry impressed with dj Yu Ling, she sounded really nice & intelligent. She brought up a few new things abt his song. The first is Ghost. There's a bit that goes 'four face eight directions' & she demonstrated how the fading in & out in the music makes it sounded like u r surrounded. Then the bit that goes 'patiently wait for the day to grow slowly dark, no matter how tired you are feeling, you cannot let yourself go to sleep'. Yu Ling asked if it meant 'keep watch' in the biblical sense. David said yes, he is christian and related how Jesus told his disciples to 'keep watch' when they asked him for signs of His Second Coming.
Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back--whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!' (Mark 13:33-37)
Dun u find this guy so inspiring?
Then they talk abt Susan Said & I thought David was going to mention the usual things abt his mom & Beijing opera, but instead he talked abt a movie called Somewhere in time starring Christopher Reeves & Jane Seymour released in 1980. Heard abt this movie but nvr seen it.
It was adapted from a book called Bid Time Return by Richard Matheson who wrote it after seeing a photograph of an American stage actress called Maude Adams. Richard Matheson also cowrote the screenplay. Basically abt a guy who saw a portrait of a woman in the past & fell so much in love that he willed himself to travel back in time to look for her. Surprised that David like such a romantic tearjerker. He oso said the soundtrack was vry good. Anyway he made me want to read the book & maybe watch the movie although not overly fond of slushy romantic movies.
Then Yu Ling mentioned Katrina who wrote the lyrics for 2night & David explained this was not the Katrina of the demo song in Black Tangerine. This Katrina was a writer David met in Taiwan & whom he thought vry unusual for a Taiwanese girl as she is quite daring. He got her to write 2night lyrics cos he felt she will be able to convey a sexy song without sleaziness. Its vry strange that unlike others, I dun find 2night at all sexy but just a sweet love song sang by David in a sexy voice, but then David always sound sexy when he sing anyway hahahahaha.
Sumone sms to ask abt when the chatroom on his website will commenced & David said that cos they want not only sound but video as well, cost more both in time & money. Also since the website is completely free of charge, the expenses come out of his own pocket. Then sumone sms in to say willing to pay, so sweet.
Then when they were playing Who do you love, David was so funny when they talked abt the piano playing & he said he envisoned a ballet dancer wearing a tutu jumping out of the piano & singing do you love me or him? He was so funny & adorable. Finally Yu Ling asked him to sing live & he sang a few lines of Love Can & IT WAS SO GOOD! He never sound better, just perfect. Perfect interview, perfect dj & of cos the always perfect David Tao.
Well it won't be long now before the mini showcase @ the Expo. Just be warned that it is free standing so get there early. If u still desperately looking for ticket, yr last choice is to buy The Great Leap cd which comes with the ticket. The Great Leap Dvd Session only available next week in Singapore so dun kick yourself if u have already purchased another copy of The Great Leap to get the ticket. Oso cos of sum contractual problem with his previous company, David's new songs not available @ ktv yet but not sure only in Taiwan or here as well.
David did not mentioned the songwriting @ Hard Rock Cafe during the interview only the Expo showcase. Really hope its not a no show like the NKF, but surely not. Already his visit is fraught with disappointment abt the tickets & not being able to meet him @ the airport. I am just being paranoid so dun u worry abt a thing if u got the tickets to attend. Just have a great time! Pixs credit davidcn

David in Singapore
David calling on all sg fans to jiao yu hehehehehehehhehe, another Tom promo pix. He looked vry sporty in his fav brand jacket. I think he must have at least 10 adidas jackets, so why keep wearing the same white jacket the past few days? Really hope he put away that white jacket when he is here. Its a nice jacket but I need to see him in sumthing else but not pink plse.
Anyway found out that Shaolin Monastery is in Songshan Mountain, but sadly now so commercialised losing its serene sense of sanctuary for the monks. If David have the time to visit, will he stop & ponder if the same might happen to his music? Please keep a true heart, David, I believe you can but its easy to get distracted.
A few more hours & David will be here, are u ready sg fans? At least I get sum hours of breathing the same air, this island being so small. Really sad to miss the songwriting thingy @ Hard Rock Cafe, no mention on their site but would have gone there just to be in the same place & maybe get a glimpse of him heehee.
The mv dvd not released here yet but saw the china version of the cd in a box. It looks nice, maybe will get it along with the dvd when released. Supposed to contain personal pics taken by David. Btw not a new release of The Great Leap. Only dvd & no cd included. Its not 'EMI tactic' to sell more cds ok.
Really hope u guys who r going to the airport get opportunity to get good view of him or maybe talk to him. Lynn, hope u managed to pass my gift to him, if not its okay. Really hope the showcase is as successful as the ones in Malaysia, & sumbody plse take a pix of him sticking out his tongue kekekekekekkekekekekeke

Songwriting session
A change of clothing at last & quite cute tee, he looked extremely huggable. Pix credit davidcn @ another chinese city maybe Shangdu not sure. This is autograph session & he had media interview too where he said he is busy preparing his concerts but hope to release another album next yr. Again he said that the concerts different from Soul Power & will start from China around Aug-Sep. Regarding the labelling of 'r&b godfather' he asked why must there be this unremovable hat on his head? (can see a small frown on his brow heehee)
I think its easier to categorised things in the news so ppl dun actually have to use their brain to assimilate the information. Like David I find its exasperating that they keep putting the r&b label on him when he has said so many times he is not r&b anything. David said that if he has time, he like to visit Shaolin Monastery so guess he was sumwhere near this famous place, sry but not too familiar with China geography & too tired to do a search.
Vry sweet early pix of David & his mum in another article abt the song Catherine which getting to like more & more. Recently accompanied a friend to visit her mom in hospital & she had this song on repeat in the car. She's not even his fan but the song reminded her so much of her mom. Such touching lyrics.
There is schedule of David's Sg activities posted in DT forum & davten yahoo grp. Apparently he is doing an event abt songwriting @ Hard Rock Cafe on Sat afternoon b4 his Expo gig. No activities yet for Fri. So 1 more day to go & he will be here Thurs morning. Consider going to airport but its too hard & still have to pack *sigh* He is here & I am gone. I'd love to attend that songwriting event where he will be in his element not playing idol to his adoring fans. Not that its not nice but it will definitely be different side of him u get to see. So if u have the chance guys dun miss it!
The Great Leap MV Session is already out in Taiwan so only a matter of days it get here, apparently it will be released 5/2 in Malaysia. So do keep a lookout. Above & below pixs credit & thanks to davidcn

Pioneer in music
All pixs credit & courtesy www.davidfans.com, another vry nice chinese fansite, if u know chinese, worth to have a look, have included in links. Not sure which chinese city this is but David has been busy this past few days visiting Beijing, Fuzhou & other chinese cities in mainland China.
Actually quite confusing as he kept wearing this white jacket, floral shirt & jeans so he looked like he was in the same place all the time. Must wanna keep his luggage light heehee. But vry tiring for him but if u exclude Ultrasound which dun think he did vry much promo, then it would have been at least 2 yrs since Black Tangerine that he did this kinda extensive touring.
Oso good preparation for his concerts which, fingers crossed, start in Aug either in Beijing or Shanghai first. If I heard correctly he said 10 concerts then taking out Taiwan, HK, Singapore & Malaysia, it leave 6 concerts in China unless he planned to have a few more in Taiwan or HK. David promised a whole new concept different to Soul Power but still concentrating on music of cos. He oso said he dun planned to have guests altho I would think Tension will feature in at least a few. Then of cos there's the person he is looking for, wonder what role he or she will play?
David is such a pioneer, the first artist (I think cos I dun know of any other) to feature his fan's work in his album & now the first to have one in his concert. He really blurred the line between idol & fans making it a reality for them to get close & work with him. With him music is sumthing that belong to everybody, that could be shared & enjoyed by everyone. Its clear oso he loved music, last yr he attended the musical abt Teresa Deng & this yr he went to Jacky Cheung's Snow Wolf Lake.
Reading fan encounters @ davidcn, these r the things they usually said:
- he is much better looking in person
- he is really tall
- his hands are big
- he is vry friendly
- he has no airs
Sum of my friends been to his HK concerts & they confirmed the first oso adding he is vry charismatic. He is 178cm which is averagely tall but oso he tend to stand vry straight. His hands dun look vry big but maybe he has a firm clasp when he shake hands. As for the last two, well sg fans can now find out for themselves this weekend. Hope he has a good rest before he fly in on Thursday :)

More China promo
Remembered sumone wanted the 1st Close to you mv, its in my briefcase now if u still wants it, better late than never heehee. My fav mv where u get David @ his most adorable doing pushups, putting on tie, driving, being jealous & of cos falling in luv. Not vry clear transfer unfortunately but still watchable, in the Tian folder.
David was still in China, Francesca, yesterday for more promo events. 1 news article accused him of being 'big name' for being late & ignoring his fans, but I think if u r David fan u know he will nvr behave like that. Anyway davidcn members who were @ the scene as usual refuted all that the reporter has written.
Thk u bloodbubble for alerting that The Great Leap dvd is on Yesasia at last & release date is now 4/29. There r 10 mvs - Ghost, Who do you love, Susan Said, Love Can, Catherine, The Art of War, What is love, Sula & Lampa, Fated & 2night. So looking forward to it.
Found the pinyin & english translation to Wind and Sand and The Last Dance which David wrote for Tony Leung. Really hope he will include these 2 songs if he does record the album of songs written for others. Hope he will be writing songs for others this yr, think he is supposed to be helping William So with his new album, & he was mentioned abt helping Jaycee Chan's new album. Do u know that Leehom nvr wrote for male singers only female, but not intentional for sure. Now he wrote songs for Jolin's new album.
Lovely pix taken by davidcn member @ yesterday event - he looked so wonderful dun u think?
Caught the last bit of chinese serial called Legend of Ching Ke & the ending song was really nice. Found it was written & sang by Anson Hu, the song reminded of Wind & Sand not similar but both songs so evocative of ancient China & the honorable men who wrote on horseback fighting either for love of their country or their loved ones. Both songs dun used a lot of chinese instruments but the sound is unmistakably the sound of China. So DT fans, even if David do opt out of the music scene to take on movies as he intended, there will still be talented Anson Hu to make sure that good Chinese music will always survive.

Always outstanding
This is a much nicer promo pix @ tom I think. Love the color brown on him, so natural, he wore the same jacket in Susan said mv & looked so suave. Glad he gave up wearing all the stuff around his neck & went back to his simple gold chain. Actually easy for David to look good, simplicity like his music.
The ilovemusic site has been updated with more info abt his promo schedule & looks like the mini concert is the only one, no autograph session mentioned. The event is free standing & doors open at 6pm. Below a cute writeup on his Sunway showcase, post it so sg fans know what to expect.
Loudmusik Goes East - David Tao
Venue: Sunway Lagoon
Date: Saturday 19th March 2005
By Elaine 'Canto-pop rocks' Chow
Edited By 'Gandalf'
David Tao Ze, the pioneer of Chinese R&B, was in Malaysia recently to promote his latest album, 'The Great Leap'. Loudmusik looks East and finds out more!
We were there an hour early, but already the crowd had filled up the parking lot. The gates to the Elephant Walk had yet to open, but David Tao's loyal fans were eagerly lined up outside the gates, proudly waving their tickets.
By 8pm, the crowd was finally set loose into the park. There was a mad dash to get as close to the stage as possible, which was difficult, because a thick crowd had already formed within the first thirty seconds. Fans also rushed for the David Tao CDs, posters, T-shirts and other merchandise on sale.
While fans were waiting, David Tao's latest music videos-really cool stuff-was played on two huge screens on either side of the stage, interrupted only by Hotlink advertisements - which the event but the way, had Hotlink branding screaming only at our faces. Come 8pm when the concert was supposed to commence, nothing happened. Are we surprised? Of course not!
Good thing we were treated to some light-hearted entertainment as by eight-thirty, 98.8 FM's DJ Samantha, who emceed the event, invited fans onstage to sing their favourite David Tao songs. The winner of this little singing competition was determined by applause volume, and was given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to sing with David Tao onstage later.
At nine p.m., David Tao himself finally stepped onstage. His first performance was 'Ai Wo Hai Shi Ta (Who Do You Love)', a touching ballad to which the fans screamed and sang along. Tao's voice was in good form all night long, and after singing only five songs, including 'Ai Hen Jian Dan (I Love You)', the autograph signing session started.
Fans brought their David Tao CDs onstage to be signed, and to tried to ask the dashing Tao as many questions as they could squeeze into the very short but valuable meeting. One fan, however, tried to get away with asking Tao to sign a pirated CD (unfortunately, he didn't pull it off, and instead he was pulled off-stage by security... yes, there was a pun intended). What kids would think of these days, we at Loudmusik were simply appalled by such behavior! Tsk! Tsk!
Keeping in mind that David Tao writes the songs himself, and 'The Great Leap' is his third album after two mind-blowing chart-toppers, 'Black Tangerine' and 'Ultrasound', his music is not only catchy and original, but it certainly shows why he's one of Asia's most popular up-and-coming talents.
Here Singnet contest to win tickets but sry deadline was yesterday. Anyway to clarify why The Great Leap not nominated for GMA, cos its 2005 release & only eligible for next yr. But David said that he is not interested in winning awards anymore. He just want to do good music. After all he has already won so many awards including the "prestigious Billboard's Most Outstanding Singer-Songwriter in Asia in 1998" as mentioned on the ilovemusic site. He dun need awards now for recognition when other singers like this new r&b singer eager to meet him.
Seemed the 'incomprehensible one' finally released a date in July for his China concert, hopefully he stick to it this time & leave David in peace to schedule his in Aug. Friend has the idea that he should do as Gwen Stefani with her 4 Japanese girls, have 4 African American bodyguards following him around all the time. This will raised his 'diaoness' to such a level that China will return to feudal state & declare him emperor kekekekekekekekeke. On a more serious note, Initial D seemed to have been delayed due to anti-Japanese sentiment which is sad as lotsa ppl waiting to see it.

Incredible David
Just reading my blog & there's Beijing opera, great looking cars, Bullitt, Jacky cheung's Snow Wolf Lake, Teresa Deng, Wang Leehom, Anita Mui, Keanu Reeves.....all together cos of one man called David Tao. He is just so incredible altho in the above pix (credit davidcn) he looked yummy but lets not talk abt his attire kekekekekekekekeke.
David was guest @ sum Beijing tv program & the host showed him around the city visiting antique shops & teahouse. So glad he's not wearing pink as well, or we have to wear shades lol.
He likes wearing that jacket in China or maybe he is cold.
Post sum links @ blog forum to listen online to David's radio interview just a week away, so exciting, soon he will be here. But the debate rages on 'EMI tactics'. It would be funny if David is not involved, all this agitation abt a simple showcase.
I honestly do not think EMI is trying to boost sales. If they allowed everyone who bought the album free entrance then it will be impossible to know how many ppl r going to turn up & it could be chaotic. If they allowed ppl to get the tickets first then it will mean extra manpower & cost of setting of locations so fans can bring their album to get the tickets. I really dun see how it can be done. Anyway the harm been done & it seemed sum fans will miss out on seeing David in one of his rare performances here. Hopefully Lynn can manage to pass my gift to him so he will know that at least he has one vry thoughtful, faithful, always supportive, 'nvr going to let him down' fan.

More David in Beijing
David waving to his fans during Sprite awards. For sum reason I find that he looks kinda different when he is in China, more serious, more musician looking. But his fanbase in China is growing nicely & The Great Leap has been extremely well received there esp Susan Said. Ppl just love the way he updated Bejing opera. Oso Who do you love getting lotsa airplay cos its such an old fashioned romantic love ballad sang with great feeling. Its really hard to heard songs like that now unless its old hits. Friend of mine fr China who is Teresa Deng fan said this song reminds him of the way Teresa was able to tug at yr heartstrings with the break in her voice.
As I suspected the opera hall which his media event was held in Beijing was a real stage for opera & 1st time it was used for such an event. It was vry much in keeping with the spirit of The Great Leap, a vry cultural album with its elements of chinese influences blend with western styles. An album that is like Beijing opera - you need to at least have some liking for art & culture to be able to appreciate it. I think I managed to put my finger on why ppl in Singapore dun like it but ppl in China r so open to this album.
Well its past 20 & his mv/ktv album still not released so guess have to wait till 26. There r already radio interviews scheduled during David's visit but mostly chinese stations of cos. Will post the times & stations later.
Just posting sum wonderful pixs taken in Beijing, & really liked the way he looked. Maybe he is looking forward to his break in May when he can go back to LA to drive his Mustang. The showcase here is most probably his last one before he fly back home so he will in be great spirits & ready to party, lucky sg fans, heehee.

David in Beijing
David appearing at media event in Beijing, quite large scale & held at an old style Beijing opera hall. The embroidered backdrop is vry beautiful. EMI specially presented him a scroll for 120 thousand copies sold after only more than 3 mths release. They also have opera performers staged a bit of Su San Jit Che. Can watch here but vry slow.
The announcer was Qu Ying who acted in Who do you love mv, was surprised how tall she is & vry lovely & elegant. 4 members of davidcn went on stage to present him sum presents but this series of pixs is so funny as he seemed a bit unsure of the gifts.
Oso take a close look @ their red shirts, vry nice Soul Power image. Davidcn is now as famous as David as whenever he goes in China, sum members will always be around to welcome him, what a great fanclub (sg fans r u reading?)
David oso mentioned his upcoming concert & I think he said 10 concerts but not sure just in China or other countries. He said the location & dates still not finalised. Then sumone shouted abt his 'David is looking for you' ad & he said must speak & sing chinese, & must play at least one instrument well. Age, sex & nationality dun matter.
David oso said that the making of this album was a challenge for him & now its a challenge for his fans as well. Think I understand why he said that & going to just add my own comments. I felt sad when I read comments by sum sg fans who said they didn't want to buy another copy of The Great Leap even for the mini concert cos they felt it wasn't as good as Black Tangerine.
Making an album for David is a creative process & so like all artists even he himself cannot control the end result much as he would like to. Its not like baking a cake where you put in certain ingredients & you know what sort of cake you end up. David just want an album that is most appropriate for him to express his thoughts & emotions, & not just music that will delight all his fans. If he were to come with an album which will please fans & critics alike, then he will be like the others churning out 'cookie cutter' album one after another. I wonder why sum fans cannot understand this.
Sure you may not like The Great Leap but surely there r sum songs in there u like & want to recommend to others. To just dismiss the album as one you will not recommend to yr friends is sad. Its like you are sulking cos David did not come up with the album you like. But if you r a fan, then you will wanna understand why he came up with such an album & give him support even though you dun like the album.
Every album to David is a painful process like giving birth if you have watched Ultrasound. How will you feel if sumone said yr newborn baby is not as good as yr previous child?
OK dun turn up to support David cos of so called 'EMI tactics' but to then rub salt into the wound & said The Great Leap is not good enough is quite unforgiveable. & it dun matter how much of a fan u r previously cos u can't just add up the past to justify the present. Like the anti-Japanese protest in China now. Sumtimes u have to let go of the past to move forward which is what David is doing.
Anyway I am happy to see more msgs of support from Sg fans @ DT forum. Btw David won 4 not 1 awards @ Sprite awards including best singer/composer I think. Of cos the itchy media has to throw in story that Jay did not win any, as I recall David did not win any @ Pepsi awards too & Jay won almost all the awards, but there was deafening silence from the media then. Hahahahahahahaha now that I have disclaimer I can be even freer with my words so watch out heehee.

Please read blog disclaimer
David @ Sprite award, he got the most fav singer or sumthing like that not sure. Anyway he only got 1 award which should stop any criticism that he got awards cos he is Sprite spokesman. But David is vry upset as he has been misquoted in the past few days which he explained in his 12th msg. Actually when I read that he criticised DJs as judges, I felt it was a bit funny as he has always thanked & was grateful to the djs for playing his songs. In fact when I first became his fan, it was because he was 1 of the few artists who acknowledged the important role of the djs. The 2nd was that he said he didn't drive in Taipei cos it was 'dirty', again I thought he is not so insensitive to say that. So glad I didn't translate those news.
Actually I do filtered a lot of the news I read & tried to translate only the ones I think are actual reporting not 'rubbish' but sumtimes its hard, so I have included a disclaimer in the interest of the truth. I am also human & only a fan & sumtimes I write nonsense so please dun take everything on this blog as gospel. Please do remember David do not endorse the things I write on this blog & most of the information are secondary sources. The things you read here are not necessary true abt David. As David says, "In the pursuit of the truth... Trust no one."
Of cos I will still translate the news & express my views and so forth, but you just have to make up your own mind abt David. I may criticise, gossip and make fun of him, but I totally, totally believe in him & this msg only increase my respect & admiration for his sincere, honest character.

Mustang David
1968 Mustang 390 GT modelled after the car driven by Steve MacQueen in the movie Bullitt. Why did I post it? Cos David bought a 1966 Mustang GT online just like this one. Not sure whether its green but maybe he will do a paint job on it. This car is now known as Bullitt cos of the famed car chase where Steve MacQueen was said to have driven himself without a stuntsman. Here can read more abt the filming of the car chase in details.
Actually the other car in the movie the Dodge Charger is a much cooler car. There was some debate whether a Mustang, even a souped up Mustang, can keep up with the Charger but the Mustang GT has acquired a legendary status as the ultimate musclecar after this movie. But still the Dodge is one cool car.
Funny had a hard time trying to decipher what 'fu te ya ma' in chinese mean but when the article mentioned Bullitt I knew it was the Mustang & that it meant 'Ford wild horse', a pretty close translation. My chinese is getting better by the day thanks to David hehehhehehehehe. David said that all his gfs hated cars after they found out how much he loved them. All I can said is boys like to think that their gfs hate cars cos they love them but its often not the case. Boys oso like to think girls dun understand anything abt cars *roll eyes*
Thanks to Leehom's faithful fan, Pusanna, who saw David attending the premier of Jacky Cheung's Snow Wolf Lake last Friday, we know that David is in HK & probably flying to mainland for the Sprite awards which has been postponed from 4/17 to 4/18. Davidcn has Catherine mv for dling & I really like it, vry understated but meaningful. Beginning to like this song more & more.
Well in 10 days David will be in Singapore & hopefully the Expo concert will be a successful one. It seemed his songs are no 1 this wk so maybe his sg fans are rallying to show more support. Tonight I caught a bit of Leehom interview when he praised his sg fans for being so supportive & apparently there is even sum kinda unofficial fanclub here. Why can't the David fans here be a bit more supportive like Leehom's? Sry but I find u guys vry fractious & clannish.
When David was visiting Malaysia, his fans there were delightfully friendly & helpful with each other. Can't u guys at least put on a united front just for David's visit? Now I probably upset & offended everyone by saying so but it got to be said by sumone. It seemed David too upset & offended everyone in Taiwan by first criticising GMA again & then by saying he did not want to drive his cars there so I shall follow his fine eg
Btw have u noticed how sumone kept changing his mainland concerts' dates to coincide with David's??? Plse he has already gone too far ahead for u to catch up. There's no way u can compete so stop chasing heehee

Reflective about David
Haha the comments abt fat David remind me of this pix which I 'stolen' from davidcn, thx vry much. Ppl wondered whether I am obsessive abt David, well, my answer is if David still look like this I will be vry obsessive indeed. I absolutely love that innocent, earnest David so intent on signing his I'm OK albums. Look at those chubby cheeks, so pinchable, his scruffy hair, doubly adorable. I oso like meatier guys not fat just cosily huggable.
Of cos David can nvr returned to this earlier manifestation so I still love him a lot but obsessed to the point that I want to live with him & have his baby errrrrrrrrrr no please heehee. So glad u guys like that Joanna post & to those who worry that I am getting too much into his personal life. Let me assure you that all the things that I wrote had already been published in the news many times. In fact there's lot more which I dun bothered with cos vry gossipy. Oso I think its naive to think celebrities dun use the media selectively.
For eg the pix of David & Joanna in LA looked extremely 'posed', this was after Black Tangerine & the song Melody revealed his breakup. Maybe he intended to let ppl know that he had recovered & moved on, I dun know. All I know is being 'caught' by the media is quite often not 'accidental'. For instance I know of a celebrity couple who met, fell in love, had an affair & broke up in 2 yrs without being mentioned in the news. Probably cos they were so genuinely in love & refused to use their affair as media fodder that they were left alone to enjoy their relationship in silence.
Consider this: David said that he quite often fly to Singapore 'incognito' ostensibly for business but he could be conducting an affair here for all we know rite? Not saying he is ok, just an eg how celebrity can avoid the media if they really want to. Oso I think if you dun want ppl to speculate abt yr relationship with 'Jo', you will not write such a personal 'thank you', right David? (why no such personal thank you to the other important ppl in his life, his mon & dad?) You will thank her in quiet personal manner like maybe a proposal? kekekekekekekekekke just joking, its Saturday arvo & relax time after all.
He oso mentioned a certain 'Mel' in his first two albums, wonder if he's in the habit of shortening his gf's names *shudder* hahahahahahahha & consider this - 5 yrs of relationship & nvr a pix together ever published (except for a brief moment in his Ultrasound docu). So plse dun be so naive as to think that our suave & intelligent Mr Tao dun attempt to use the media selectively & to his own advantage like many celebrities here & in the West. That's why his song Sula & Lampa really reflect his view on the media in such an affectionate & brilliant manner.
Maybe that's why I admire him so much cos he is so full of human contradictions & yet nvr afraid to reveal them. I remembered the first time I listened to his first album & was astonished at the raw emotion, the 'imperfect' recording & non studio feel. It was such an impact that someone has so much talent & audacity to record such a album & a first album to boot. Black Tangerine is a great album too for his inventiveness & willingness to explore, but it was much too 'finished' (although my fav song will always be Black Tangerine, the album version). Fortunately he realised this & tried to go back to simplicity with The Great Leap with mixed results. Its sad we r now so used to studio enhanced albums that we required that extra boost to popular music. I really hope David can bring back the rawness of emotion, that 'virgin feel of good music' in his next album. For that I will always support him & be ever more 'obsessive' *fluttering eyelashes*.
Sry abt this looooooooong reflective post, its a long time I did one & was in the mood for one. Anyway not much news to report, just confirmation that his Great Leap mv dvd is indeed a reality & according to the Taiwan side, released on 4/26. But keep a lookout Sg fans on 4/20 as maybe released here earlier as tie-in with his promo & concert.
A lot of sg fans unhappy with EMI tactic to force ppl to buy an extra album for the ticket. But try to be realistic, I would say that english abums here enjoy better sales than chinese, & considering the population here, I would say David's sales here will not even register a blimp in his overall sales of The Great Leap. There's no major sponsor for this trip which seemed spur of the moment kinda & not vry organised. Maybe David was scheduled to come here travelling 'incognito' as usual & the concert was tacked on at the last minute. So we should really be grateful that David is so willing to spend time here for a concert when really the sg fans were not vry enthusiastic abt buying his album & voting for his songs. Sales for Jay concert cd/vcd & sum chinese compilation album were better than The Great Leap & Ghost did not even reach No 1. So I really dun think we have the right to complain rite or not lah?
