DT & Mussorgsky

Looking vry adorable but tired. David attended a 530 commemorative concert in China for 512 Sichuan earthquake. There was a section where they showed support from overseas Chinese living in Japan, Australia, France & USA & so appropriately David, Leehom, Yanzi, Shin & other overseas Chinese performers mostly from Taiwan sang Hand in Hand. Watch here.
David looking like the soon-to-be director ^__^ arranged the various vocals during rehearsal. Once again marvelled at his ability for music arrangement cos the result was just great. He was cute when he kinda encouraged them to hold onto the last note. My fav singer was Shin cos his voice was as usual pure & ringing.
The group rehearsing onstage. Looking at him makes me so happy. Anyway I managed not to delete the blog but it was vry close. Kept listening to his new song & gave me a lot of comfort. Realised that he could have been inspired by Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition with the opening piano solo sounding like a promenade. Really rather beautifully mournful & reminded me that I used to listen to Mussorgky when I wanted to be inspired. Mussorgsky wrote this my fav piano piece almost as an eulogy to his deceased friend Victor Hartmann when he went to his postmortem art exhibition.
I was hoping that David wrote a more raging song like Dear God but I think it would have sounded wrong. How can one rage against a natural occurence like an earthquake? It's already a miracle to have survived an earthquake. WaWa's simple lyrics are heart-touchingly sincere & the melody has to be suitably restrained. Also it was not really directly affecting David so he wrote it more as a spectator like Mussorgsky mourning the death of a friend not a relative. He had to write it this way I think or it would have sounded fake.

For DT

Here's a vid I did for David & the earthquake relief. Actually just a bunch of pixs with his new song playing:

Will DT meet panda?

DT all serious & frowny while meeting the press re his new song, watch sina newsclip. He seems vry antisocial lately, poor Dave. He promised he will finish his script by 4/09 & that his movie will see the light of day nxt yr. I think ppl are a bit tired of yr film script, dear DT, just let us see the finished product when & if you are done ^__^ He cautiously said that Yanzi is still his preferred leading lady but nothing is confirmed yet. I do like the idea of him working with Yanzi cos they certainly looked like they work well together so fingers crossed. Anyway if it really happens, he will be the envy of many directors heehee also they might wanna consider dating so David can move to Singapore *__* sry just joking. Seriously I sincerely hope that he can get it together to direct & produce his first movie nxt yr. He also recorded msg for earthquake relief:

DT is currently working on getting his album out Nov. I don't know cos although I do like Continue to live but he seems to have lost some of his fiery drive for inspiring music. Not that I blame him judging from the current state of Chinese music. There's not much good, innovative music around. He was asked abt GMA which is really meaningless since he will not be nominated. Maybe they hope he will come out with something controversial abt GMA again :P I feel sad that it may be his last studio album for some time as there is no news of his renewal of contract with EMI. He too doesn't seem to care & I feel a bit mad at his nonchalance. Also don't think there will be any more concert this yr. But he looks so listless & unhappy that I don't have the heart to cuss him >"< guess so long as he can be happy doing what he wants, that's all that matters.
Here's another cute panda pix ^__^ apparently these 2 are promised to Taiwan so DT may have his wish at last hehe Guess I am getting pandamania on my blog haha just that I nvr knew pandas are so adorable & active. They really love to sport around esp the gorgeous cubs *__*

好好活下去

David finished his earthquake song & I have been listening to it for a while. After I got over the disappointment that it was not as powerful as Dear God, I think it is okay. I like the chinese title 好好活下去 which is a bit difficult to translate but I think 'Continue to live' is fairly close. It has a simple melody, nothing very outstanding, & simple lyrics by WaWa. The arrangement is also fairly simple accompanied by piano which I assumed is played by David. If it was, then his piano skills has improved a lot ^__^ The intro is especially moving, very delicate, a bit hesitant & as one DTFCer remarked "Grey" Like rain pouring or tears falling, it is a kind of sadness that has no remedy. Almost like David surveying the earthquake destruction feeling heartpain but also helpless. I think most of us probably feel the same. When David starts singing, I was thinking not again another sad grieving song :P but it kinda changes tempo after the first chorus & becomes rather uplifting & David's vocals also become stronger. It is not a grieving song but it is actually what the title encourages: Continue to live!
The lyrics written by WaWa is also very touching. I esp like the line 'You are the miracle so don't lose to fate'. Anyway I have anticipated requests of those who cannot read mandarin so here's a rough translation:
Continue To Live
Music by David Tao
Lyrics by WaWa
Performed by David Tao

This moment of pain in the heart is indescribable
In your flowing tears are my tears
Let me sing you a song
To comfort the wounds in your heart and soul
Even if in your life, you have suffered irreplaceable loss
Your loved ones hope you will continue to love
Continue to live, you are the miracle
Continue to live, we will accompany you
We all love you, we will always love you
No matter where you are, no matter for how long
When you feel alone, reach out for your hand
Step by step we will walk together
Even if in your life, you lost everything in a moment
But now you are my child and my friend
Continue to live, we will accompany you
You are the miracle so don't lose to fate
Continue to live, we will give you courage
We all love you, we are always here for you
Continue to live, we will accompany you
You are the miracle so don't lose to fate
Continue to live, we will give you courage
We all love you, we will always love you

I think EMI has made available this song for ring download with proceeds going to earthquake relief. Do hope the song is released as a single though cos I really want it. By the by the brown top that DT is wearing in the pixs looked kinda feminine *__*

Sichuan Live Aid?

A big thank you to Janice for following charity concert update:
Canto-pop singers set to join stars in LA, London concerts
(SCMP) 05月 21日 星期三 00:03AM
A Los Angeles-based international sports and entertainment presenter is planning large concerts in Los Angeles and London featuring eastern and western pop stars to raise funds for victims of the Sichuan earthquake.
AEG, which has presented concerts by Justin Timberlake, Bon Jovi, The Eagles and Alicia Keys in the United States, is hoping to stage the two concerts in the last two weeks of next month. Sources close to the organisers said planning was still in the initial stages but it was hoped that stars such as Jacky Cheung Hok-yau, Andy Lau Tak-wah, Taiwan's David Tao Zee, Jolin Tsai Yi-lin and Jay Chou Jie-lun, would participate.
A source said the concert format might be similar to that of the Live Aid benefit concerts, which occurred in cities around the world on the same day. "Organisers have just made the decision and they are still working around the stars' schedules," the source said. "It is hoped that the shows can be broadcast live around the world."
Cheung's manager, Florence Chan Suk-fan, confirmed that AEG had contacted her and record companies about the possibility of taking part. She said there would be a meeting with AEG executives this week.
"There have been a lot of charity events around the region to raise funds for quake victims," she said. "I'm not sure what they are hoping to do yet but I should have a better idea after the meeting."
Meanwhile, the arts community in Hong Kong also plans to raise funds for earthquake victims. Chung Ying Theatre Company will have an additional show of Tuesdays with Morrie on June 8 at Hong Kong City Hall's Theatre. Proceeds of the performance, starring veteran actor Chung King-fai, will go to Oxfam for relief work in Sichuan.
Hong Kong Repertory Theatre will dedicate one of next month's De Ling & Empress Dowager Ci Xi performances at Cultural Centre's Grand Theatre as an "earthquake relief" special.
"Although it is going to be in June, the earthquake aftermath will be a long-term struggle for those who are still alive," Hong Kong Repertory Theatre executive director Chan Kin-bun said.
More details of the performance would be announced later and proceeds would go to the Home Affairs Bureau for earthquake relief. Theatre group Nonsensemakers will donate all the proceeds of its June 26 To Love Somebody performance at the Cultural Centre's Studio Theatre to the Hong Kong Red Cross China Relief Fund.
It will be nice if David can do the LA one then his US fans will be able to see him live in concert at last. Although I know I am vry cynical abt charity events but it is just heartwarming to see so much effort to help. I also a bit worried abt David's condition during the Taiwan's charity event as he looked extremely listless & kept forgetting lyrics. Hope he is feeling better now.

Panda relief

Some nice pixs to cheer me up ^__^ Pandas being fed & cared for at Wolong Nature Reserve. 3 still missing though *sigh* Apparently their carers stay behind to look for them despite not having any news from their families. More pixs @ UK Telegraph. Thanks anon below for pointing error in Singapore link, guess nobody else care enough to click on it. Still the news from Sichuan Province have been fairly upbeat & encouraging. The rescue operation & housing for the homeless seem to be well organised. the thing is not to give up hope.
Like the Olympic song, there are now quite a few versions of earthquake relief song. Unfortunately none of them is vry memorable. Not that I am suggesting David will write a better song cos this is certainly not a time for competition. Just hope fans are not gonna start comparing & having a poll on which song is the best. If that happens, hope DT fans will be matured enough not to join in. I am beginning to wish DT is not writing a song esp now it seems Jay will be writing one as well. Anyway a fan posted @ davidtao forum that he or she was disappointed that David didn't do more for the earthquake victims. I am a bit puzzled as to what more he is expected to do. He is not Madonna & cannot save the world in 4 mins ^__^ I am sure most ppl would like to do more but there are already a lot of ppl there - resucers, medical team, volunteers - who are far more qualified to help.

Unsung heroes

DT looking like he hasn't slept for a few days.
An overwhelming feeling of helplessness perhaps? I too feel the same as the earthquake death toll kept rising & China officially declared 3 days of mourning. Most chinese newspapers & websites also kept to a b/w theme & apparently most entertainment & gaming sites will be inaccessible for the next 3 day. DTFC dutifully changed their bg to b/w. Sina.com launched a green ribbon program. Green for life, hope, peace & for the 'brothers in green' meaning the PLA soldiers who worked tirelessly to save any survivors.
How appropriate cos I too want to single them out cos they are the real unsung heroes of the earthquake. These men in green & rescuers in their distinctive orange uniforms. They keep on working so hard day & night risking their lives in any kind of weather with very little praise, support or reward. You should see them as cameras & microphones are poked into their faces but they never lose their cool & always have an encouraging smile despite looking fatigued. I will never know all your names but I salute you all wholeheartedly for all your valiant efforts to help and comfort those in need.
From the sublime to the ridiculous in HK where a schoolgirl from an elite school wrote an extremely distasteful post in her blog where she claimed that she was not at all affected by the Sichuan disaster & that to her, it was a good thing since it will eliminated overcrowding in hospitals, schools, etc. She felt it was better to donate to the pandas. She had been forced to apologise & later closed down her blog. Maybe it was a hoax, I don't know but the thing is you can't force ppl to change overnite. Yes, it is nice to have charity concerts & donation drives where ppl donate usually cos it is the rite thing to do.
The thing is I won't even kid myself that DT is being extremely kind & generous by writing a song, donating money & singing in charity concerts. He is just doing the basics. As a celebrity always in the limelight, he can hardly refuse & of cos he also wants to help. But can he really help? Can he stop the floods, the mudslides, the outbreak of diseases or even the grieving? The trouble with charity events is they are really selfserving for the donors to feel good abt themselves. Not that I am against them but sometimes I wonder if all of it is geuinue. Maybe deep down some of them felt exactly like the HK schoolgirl. That only an elite few is privileged to occupy the spaces on earth & an earthquake just cleared the debris *sigh*

To China with love

David made a surprise appearance at the 把愛傳出去 charity event held in Taipei tonite. Appropriately he sang Hand in hand with Leehom, both strumming guitars. Fortunately their performance is at the beginning, sry but not too crazy abt watching charity events. It wasn't their best performance cos both looked rather tired but it was nice nonetheless. DT looks rather serious in his black framed glasses. He told ppl not to give up calling if they got a busy tone but keep trying, & that it was not the amt that mattered as every little bit helped. Later both he & Leehom went to man the phones. Taiwan's new premier Ma Ying-jeou & his wife were also manning the phone. Anyway hope lots were donated. (Link info credit & thanks to DTFC)

Dear God dear DT

Another series of superb concert pixs from DT fan, credit & thanks to DTFC. Dear DT the thought of you always make me so happy. Listen to Dear God a few times today. Apparently a few stations in China has been using Hand in Hand as background music when showing earthquake rescue footage. Hopefully David can compose another song that is just as stirring.
Links to charities mostly to Red Cross in different countries are up, also included Jet Li's One Foundation if you are his fan & also it is a dependable charity. Donation to Help Panda will go to Wolong Nature Reserve where some is to ensure the giant pandas will not go hungry as they soon be running out of food & water. You may think I am callous to be thinking of the pandas more than ppl. I am not but usually in a natural disaster, animals suffer just as much as or even more than humans.
Some news that David after returning from Shanghai has shut himself up in his home for 2 days to work on his song. However his name has appeared in nationwide charity appeal in China however details are sketchy on when or where the event will be staged. There are already many charity concerts also in Taiwan & HK happening this weekend. Some fans arguing abt whose idol donated more *roll eyes* Vry tiresome I know, who cares so long as they donated. To be honest, most of these activities are merely 'feel good' stuff, done so most ppl can feel relieved that they did something abt it. China will have to bear the consequences of the earthquake for a very long time as they have to rebuild entire towns, roads, infrastructure for electricity & water supply, houses, schools, hospitals, etc.

DT earthquake appeal msg

David has recorded a msg to encourage ppl to donate generously to help China with the earthquake crisis:

Glad to see some msgs of support but unfortunately the shoutbox is rather limited but if you do wanna post a long msg, go ahead in the blog comments & let me know if you want me to post it on the blog. Let's do this for DT for he will be delighted to see his fans help him get his msg across. For donations, apparently the best & quickest way is China Redcross so I posted up their badge. I will be posting a few more links for donations in different countries. Apparently EMI has announced that they will be organising activities whereby their stars like David, Jolin & Stefanie can help in the donation drive.

DT writes for earthquake relief

David has announced through EMI that due to his concern for the earthquake in China, he has the inspiration to write a song which he hopes will help bring relief, comfort & strength to all those affected by the earthquake. He is now overseas (probably in LA) but he will rush back to Taipei to record the song.
At the moment now sure if he will record the song solo or have a bunch of ppl to sing it. I am happy either way & hope that he will do a good job. Hope it will be released as a single & the proceeds donated for earthquake sufferers.
Thanks for yr msgs & just want to make it clear that I am not defending DT. I guess its up to individual whether or not to believe him. Hey I am the one who always collapsed at every little bad news he had in the past ^__^ But now I don't know. Maybe I am stronger or just this gut feeling that he is an innocent victim. It could be I am wrong but I set up this blog for him & I will support him no matter what. If it is really true that he has a problem as a serial love offender, well I will be here supporting him while he get treatment. I think the main thing is to show my support for him.
Still I know I cannot change yr minds if you think he has been lying all this time & you can no longer support him. Still this is a hard time for us all including DT so I brought back the shoutbox if anyone wanna let it out there. Scream, shout, abuse DT if you wanna or show him yr support. Not forgetting of cos our prayers, support & condolences for the earthquake victims. BTW the pandas are safe but the human death toll keep on rising ... I don't know its crazy but tears are rolling down my face & I long so much for DT's song. No matter whether its good or not, I know I will keep listening to it. So DT supporters out there (for sure there must still be some) let unite & show him our support & with his song we will speedsend good wishes, prayers & good weather all the way to China!

Sympathy for pandas & DT

The high cost of the China earthquake also included almost 100 pandas whose fate is still unknown. I always think of David when I see a panda cos he once said candidly that he hoped to see a real panda. I don't know but to me a man who can say something like that is without subterfuge. So I believe him when he said he was not on a date in Hangzhou & just asking help from a friend to buy a house there for his dad. I believe him when he said he is currently single & not in a relationship. Even though the tabloids try to portray him otherwise, I believe he is an innocent victim. Maybe its cos they tried so hard to make him into this evil villain who goes after young, voluptuous models & is now suspected to have ruined someone's marriage. I am stubborn like that. I also cannot totally believe when a star is portrayed as shy, virginal, generous, good & perfect :P
Not to mention the tabloids have yet to produce evidence of him being controversially intimate with a woman. I being really intimate not just putting his hands on her shoulders. Its like what Eason said: controversial depends on which country. Like someone was shocked when she saw him pecked a starlet hello on the cheek. My dear, that's just good manners when a gentleman meet a lass but obviously not in Singapore ^__^ Oh I forgot to mention that David also took pixs of himself with his lady friend in Hangzhou but unfortunately for the media, they were fully dressed :P Which reminded me that one of the most bizzare excuses for downloading the HK sex photos was from a girl in mainland China who claimed she wanted to learn the different positions *????* Man that's just so crazy I actually believe her. Which reminded me I was flabbergasted when I went to visit a friend in Australia & her eight yr old daughter was poring over a vry explicit sex manual with actual photos. See, controversial depends on which country.
To me, flirting is normal & I think David is a man who will flirt a little to make a girl feel good. In France of cos, flirting is considered an art & all Frenchmen flirt no matter how young or old the female. If you watch or listen to David being interviewed by female djs, you will find that sometimes he would flirt a little with them to ease tension. He will also flirt a little with his female fans -- the lovely Shu Ying is of cos a good eg. My how he flirted with her like his 'will you show me around' *__* But if you are perceptive, you will also noticed the slight untouchable aura he wrapped around himself for protection. This is a signal not to take him for real. So I do not believe David is a womaniser or a serial dater.
I know a lot of fans are starting to doubt him with so many rumors abt him in the tabloids. They are disappointed that he is involved with a divorcee so once again he is judged guilty without a trial. I don't know but this time I don't have doubts. I believe in him absolutely. It is just too coincidental when rumors abt this started sprouting in the chinese forums & all of a sudden there are pixs. They kept saying it has been rumored a long time ago so as to put him as 'the third party' but trust me, the rumors were recent. Also the pixs were taken on 4/29 but released just before his 510 Shanghai concert for maximum media exposure. Someone sure knew what they were doing.
I am sorry fans chose to believe the tabloids not him. You know that to clear his name, David sued a notorious magazine in Taiwan who is now being investigated for purchasing personal information of celebrities & politicans from criminal ring probably meaning triads. So I am not being paranoid cos like in HK, publications in Taiwan are also capable of using illegal means. I know I am just rambling now cos I am so saddened by the earthquake & also latest bad news abt DT. But we must be strong & stand up again. We must believe that from the ashes, a phoenix will rise again. Even if nobody on earth believes, I do honestly believe in DT now & forever.

Prayers

A very sad day in Sichuan Province. My heart bleeds especially for all those children trapped under their schools.

DT rest well

This is the David I like - simple, unadorned & reaching out to his fans. As expected, most of the media pixs featured him with his many female dancers. I sincerely hope in his next series of concerts, he cut out the dancers as someone once said - DT, leave the dancing to Rain ^__^
He had 2 new sets of costume, both I quite like even though they are rather theatrical. This one has his favorite colours, pink & purple. Even though it is vry gaudy, I like the simple lines & it suited the theme of the concert.
This one I like much better. I like the color scheme and clean lines of the design. He looks absolutely charming & dignified in both. The concert tracklist seemed to be similar to Singapore & HK with the inclusion of the disco medley. In the encore he sang Butterfly to the delight of his fans & surprisingly I Like You but not nearly enough. He didn't sing The Art of War & Everything Gone to the dismay of his fans. But still no matter what he sang or didn't sing, fans will still complain. He just has too many good songs. The concert is declared a success by both fans & media. He must be the only singer who got 70-80% attendance with the media declaring that his 'renzhi' is still high. I remembered one reporter who couldn't understand why his Quangzhou concert was declared a big success when the attendance was abt 70%. It was later in interviews that David said even he was surprised by the good response as Mandopop concert in Quangzhou was not really well attended so 70% was considered very good. Again with his concerts as with his albums, David tried to be realistic & honest with the results.
So with the Shanghai concert over, not sure if he will (or forced :P) to hold another concert. I hope not cos I think it is obvious he need a long break. His throat has been giving him problems for a long time so he really need to have this problem resolved & not keep taking injections to stop the pain. Even though it meant that we will not have any news of him for some time but I think we can live with that cos we are used to it *__* His health & happiness are more important. Also he has some goodies to look forward to like this Shanghai concert dvd which I am sure will be an absolute gem & his 6th studio album which is still scheduled to be released yearend. Next year DT has declared it his 'movie year' & hopefully he will be left in peace to do exactly that.

20080511

The return of DT

Already some Shanghai concert clips online to enjoy! First a short newsclip that revealed the opening. It was quite stunning as Airport in 10.30 is heard then a white curtain fell to the ground & taken away. David in a glittery kinda lounge suit strolled majestically onto the stage with 2 bodyguards. He stood silently on the stage for a few secs while the audience cheered wildly. He sure does have a sense of dramatics ^__^ He also reworked the beginning of Can't get you outta my mind to sound Linkin Parkish. This clip shows a few minutes of the ending where he sang a medley including I Like It & High High High. His voice sounded vry good, strong & clear projection & chocolately melting. No doubt abt it - he's still the real thing live. Supposedly the nxt few days may be filled with media speculation abt his love life *sigh* but nothing can take away the allure of his music. The chinese paparazzi always failed to understand one thing abt David. His fans dun care vry much abt the rumors of his private life. We are just concerned that he may get upset. His music is the only thing that fascinates us & maybe later his movies *__*

Shanghai concert tonite!

Guess one of the things uppermost on DT's mind now is the weather in Shanghai tonite ^__^ Apparently he will be trying to capture this concert on film again as the last time they could not enough footage cos of the heavy downpour. This lead me to speculate whether it was cos of his contract obligation to release a Shanghai concert dvd that he is staging another concert so soon. He has been doing a lot of things that are out of character lately *sigh* but guess we will nvr know the real situation as David vry seldom 'wash his dirty linen in public' so to speak. But of more concern to most of his fans is the problem with his throat & his health. Although I believe David is a cautious man & if there is really a major problem with his throat, he will probably postpone the concert. So I sincerely hope it is more a fatigue & stress related problem cos he has been looking vry tired & stressed out *heart pain*
He has been secretly photographed again *roll eyes* this time in Hangzhou where he had dinner with a female anchor of a local entertainment show. They made it sound as if they are having a clandestine lovers rendezvous. Actually they were quite open abt it as they even went for a stroll around the famous West Lake. There has been a lot of rumors abt their relationship since early this yr & since David did confessed that he has been dating someone from the entertainment business so it could well be true. If its true, hope both media & his fans will cut him some slack. After all he is a man pushing forty & it really not surprising that he is dating cos how else is he gonna get married if he doesn't date? So let's be mature abt it. However some chinese fans not too please with his choice though as she doesn't seem his type. She also has a short marriage before, married in 2006 & divorced in early 2007. There is of cos speculation that David is the 'third party' *big sigh* but the timing is off since they only started dating this yr when she is already divorced. Guess this just add to his badboy composer image ^__^ Anyway so long as David is happy & can at last get married & have children, it should be good news rite? Just putting it for the record here in case this thing escalated into the major chinese newsite. Just hope that he handled it well this time not like the last time. Although with hindsight, I think he tried vry hard then which could be why he refused to speak out abt it as he wasn't sure it was going to work. Poor David, hope it will be successful this time. Of cos my best wishes for good weather & a successful concert in Shanghai. Dearest David, no matter what whether its love, music or movies, I will always be here supporting you.

1 day to 510 Shanghai concert

Oops sorry wrong info below! DT was not in Shanghai yesterday but in Taipei where he created headlines just by going to see a throat specialist. Must be a slow news day ^__^ As usual he is extra-cautious before his concert by wearing face mask so as not to catch cold or maybe he is still having his perennial cold. I am beginning to suspect he might be a bit of hypochondria where his throat is concerned esp when there is a concert. Hopefully he can have a long break after 510 concert & not have to perform in the nxt few mths. He really need some rest, poor BB. I feel heartpained whenever I see pixs of him with his face mask >"<
After visiting the doctor, David went to attend first a wedding & then Wang Zhi Ping's birthday celebration where apparently he sang Beatles' Don't let me down. Kinda strange choice of song. Here's pix of Wang with daughter Joanna who is behaving rather contradictory. She keeps saying she wants to depend on her own talents to make it big yet is not at all adverse to using her father's fame for promotion. She is apparently repackaging her debut album with a bonus 2 songs specially recorded for her dad's birthday. Maybe its time for daddy's little girl to grow up :P

20080508

2 days to 510 Shanghai concert

David is already in Shanghai rehearsing & making sure everything is ok for his 510 concert. He has also been quoted out of context AGAIN that 'he does not need fans for his gf' thereby making lotsa his female fans vry miffed ^__^ Actually what he said was in reply to a gf question where he said he is not looking for a gf who worships him as idol & so does not need his gf to act like his fan but someone who can challenge him. This was in a Shanghai tv interview where he also made a mini pizza & revealed that he likes pepperoni & bell peppers. He also piled on heaps of bacon which I thought was not vry italian but rather american :P
He seemed vry tired in that interview & I am beginning to suspect too that he is trying to finish up all his music contract obligations as soon as possible so he can film his movie. There could be 2 possible reasons for his alleged prolonging of his 'temporary departure' from music. First could be he wasn't aware of how much he still had to do & how much time it took. Second could be that his mgrs & sponsors got way antsy when he started talking abt taking time off for his movie project cos he may not wanna come back. So they started to pile all sort of work on him in an attempt to delay his departure. Certainly he did the most largescale concert performances last yr in addition to his ongoing series of concerts. He will always put more than 100% into all his concerts of cos but I did noticed some malaise during his interview in Singapore. At one point one of the djs fervently wished him good luck in his concert ticket sales & there was kinda pause as David thanked her awkwardly as if concert sales was the last thing on his mind which could well be the case.
Having a girly fan moment here hehe cos noticed that the scarf he wore in his Big John pixs is the trendy McQ skull scarf worn by almost every young US female celebrity who wanna channel their inner rock babe. First time I seen it on a male celebrity & it kinda ROCKS hahaha Dear DT, such a fashion icon now *__*

7 days to 510 Shanghai concert

A new series of stunning DT pixs for Big John's Spring/Summer collection. (Photo credit TWFC@DTFC) Some more news abt the Cartoon & Anime Festival David attended in Hangzhou:
An opening ceremony is held for the Fourth China International Cartoon and Animation Festival in eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou on Monday evening, April 28, 2008.
The Fourth China International Cartoon and Animation Festival (CICAF) kicked off on Monday in eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou.
It is the first time that tickets of the opening ceremony have been sold to the public. Kids and their parents, as well as teens and grandparents crowded the city's World Leisure Expo Garden on Monday evening to enjoy the fireworks, music and other wonderful performances.
Irish-Norwegian musical duo Secret Garden, and Chinese stars including David Tao and Jolin Tsai showed up at the ceremony.
The annual festival runs through to May 3, which includes China's May Day holiday. The exhibition area covers about 60,000 square meters, with more than 1,400 exhibition booths. About 300 institutions and enterprises from 17 countries and regions have registered for the festival, said media reports.
The festival attracted approximately 430,000 attendees last year and it's estimated that about 500,000 people will attend this year.
The CICAF is the only state-level and international cartoon and animation industrial festival, co-sponsored by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and Zhejiang Provincial Government.
In 2006, SARFT designated Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, as the host city for the event.
With years of efforts, Hangzhou has built up a national cartoon industry base, a national digital entertainment industry pilot area, and a national software industry base, and other bases for the national cultural creation industry.
Kinda strange but interesting event for David to attend. Still it could be a welcome break for him. Also it must be the umpteen time he performed Marry me today with Jolin in China. This song is like so yesterday but is still provoking mouth-frothing anger from ppl who hates it with a passion ^__^ Reminds me of ppl who deliberately slashed at famous paintings for no apparent reason :P During one of his recent Shanghai interviews he did talk a bit abt this song. He said although he made the song happy & lighthearted like a child's song, actually there is a totally different meaning in the song if ppl bothered to listen & find out & not just dismissed it as a K song. He didn't reveal the meaning but I think its that most ppl always long for the perfect wedding like a child longing for a special treat but marriage is not child's play & need a lot of compromise to make it work. Even in this the most popular of his sweet-sounding songs, he sought to put a meaning that is relevant to today's society in it.
In another interview, he played a game where he had to sing & then stop when there was a certain sound in the headphones then pick up singing again. He did extremely well by singing Rain & the djs teased him that he even managed to continue his 'la la la' without a break ^__^ Much too adorable hehe
